Yesterday, it was announced that the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) had financially locked in all of its current and future schools. The conference did this through a vote to approve the grant of media rights for the entire conference. This effectively stops any schools from leaving the conference during the entirety of the contract, which runs through the 2026-27 year.

As I watched coverage of the Rutger's Coaching scandal last week, I couldn't help but think about former Athletic Director Tim Pernetti's thought process. He watched 30 minutes of practice video showing constant physical, verbal, and emotional abuse by former head coach Mike Rice and decided that a three-game suspension and a measly $50,000 fine was sufficient?

The Closer: Big 10 could be the newest Division-III "powerhouse" conference

Sounds ridiculous, right? Well, it is what Big 10 Commissioner, Jim Delany, is saying may happen if the ongoing Ed O'Bannon vs. NCAA case ends in favor of the plaintiff(s). Ed O'Bannon, former UCLA basketball player, along with many other former college basketball and football players, are suing the NCAA seeking the right for athletes to share in the television revenues.
