MLB Trade Deadline Winners and Losers

In recent years, the trade deadline has not fallen short on the excitement factor, seeing big names like Manny Ramirez, Jason Bay, C.C. Sabathia, Cliff Lee, and this year, Jon Lester, David Price, and Yoenis Cespedes. Teams with star players who are out of the playoff race have long traded there star players for prospects for the future, but this year was somewhat different. 25-Man Roster talent was being moved left and right, which led to one of the most active trade markets to date, and also produced some trade deadline winners and losers, here are a few:

Bang For Their Buck: The Miguel Cabrera and Mike Trout Signings

Major League Baseball teams have been known to dole out the big bucks to their star players, with no maximum on how much the contract can be worth. This has led to contracts like Alex Rodriguez's 10-year, $275 million, or the recent signing of Robinson Cano by the Seattle Mariners, for 10-years, totaling $240 million. Within the last week, two more names have been added to list of top contracts in all of sports; Miguel Cabrera of the Detroit Tigers, and Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels. Ironically, these two are regarded as the top two players in all of baseball.

MLB Playoffs, Where they Stand, Who is standing Out

Left in action for the 2013 MLB play-offs are four medium to large market teams.  The Boston Red Sox, the Detroit Tigers make up the ALCS, and the LA Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals face off in the NLCS.  Ideally for baseball, a LA, Boston match up in the World Series would be the best out come.  These two teams boast huge markets, and are iconic franchises on their respective coasts.  However, this match up becomes quite interesting if we think back to a little over a year ago.
