Guard the Post: Super Bowl L errr 50

Yesterday, a historic announcement was made. The National Football League will, for the first time since 1971, not have a roman numeral in the title of it's biggest game. The 50th Super Bowl will not be titled "Super Bowl L", as it should have been if they followed the same trend that they have for the last 44 games. The name of the game, which will be hosted at the brand new Levi's Stadium in San Francisco, CA in 2016, will be Super Bowl 50.

Guard the Post: Jan Brewer, sneaky and ignorant is no way to run a state

For some reason, the state of Arizona is very committed to having questionable laws with huge social implications that cause them to lose or almost lose the rights to Super Bowls. In one of the fastest moving stories in weeks, the state of Arizona, specifically Governor Jan Brewer, quickly went from a Governors meeting in Washington, DC to being at the forefront of thousands of tweets, phone calls, and angry emails in protest of Senate Bill 1062.

Media Coverage of Sherman Worth Around $5 million

SI.com
The following post is a guest post from Drexel Sport Management junior Alan Liang.

Erin Andrews’ face said it all. Following the NFC Championship Game, Andrews got the “privilege” of interviewing Richard Sherman after his play ultimately ended the game. I’m sure she was shocked as much as the rest of America of what Sherman had just said. Andrews asked Sherman to take her through the last play of the game. Sherman’s response, “Well I’m the best corner in the game. When you try me with a sorry receiver like Crabtree that’s the result you gonna get. Don’t you ever talk about me.”

Super Bowl: The Weather Denies Record Ticket Prices

Maybe the price of a ticket to this years Super Bowl at Met Life Stadium will not be as unaffordable to the average sports fan in America as first reported. Well that is unless you are still willing to dish out $1,500 for a nosebleed seat where the players look like ants running around on the field.

So maybe the prices are not as astronomical on the resale market, as many people once predicted at a price of about $3,000, but we can all thank the Super Bowl selection committee for the decision to play in this outdoor stadium. The reason for the dramatic decrease in price is due to the frigid weather expected in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Guard the Post: Steaks and Sportsbiz, what else do you need?

Peyton Manning is maybe the most brilliant football mind of our generation. With that being said, he is notorious for his activity at the line of scrimmage; consistently calling audibles and motions is part of his game. This past weekend, Manning opened a "Pandora's box" that no one working in the Sports Business could have seen coming.

Water Cooler Talk: What Super Bowl Commercials Worked and What Didn’t

Super Bowl Sunday is one of the best days of the year to be a football fan.  This year the game was very competitive but the Baltimore Ravens were able to come out on top.  The game is great but my favorite part of the Super Bowl is the commercials.  This year I felt that the commercials were a little disappointing.  Even with the disappointment there were some that stuck out and others that just flopped.  I am going to talk about a couple commercials that I liked and some that I did not like.

Super Bowl Preview: Harbaugh Bowl

The NFC and AFC Championship games are over. This Super Bowl has a lot of story lines going in to it that we are sure to hear of over and over again for the next two weeks. Jim and John Harbaugh facing each other for the Lombardi trophy. Will Ray Lewis retire with a Super Bowl trophy? Is Joe Flacco considered an elite quarterback with a win and will it bring in a huge pay day. My thoughts.
