I feel that this is an interesting question. As a younger sports fan, I am aware of Kobe's rape allegation but I don't feel like it's what defines him. From my personal experience however, talking to older sports fans like my mom absolutely hate him. Sports marketers have to remember that it's the parents that are buying these products for their children. The older generations don't forget allegations like that. For that reason, I think it's better for companies to play it safe and limit the controversy as much as possible.
