About SMTSU

The Sport Management Student Union (SMTSU) is the undergraduate student organization operating under Drexel University's Sport Management program.

Mission: SMTSU strives to complement the coursework of students through a four-pronged approach: sport industry education, networking, professional development, and personal development.

Initiatives: SMTSU and its members engage in profound, meaningful endeavors to further enhance its mission and give back to both the sports business and surrounding Philadelphia communities. Current initatives include:

  • General Body Meetings
    • A coming together of SMTSU members to discuss anything and everything in sports. Some meetings include guest speakers, while others are centralized around development activities.
  • The Sports Complex (TSC)
    • This! SMTSU's blog, designed to share student opinions and coursework on various facets of the sports industry. Click here for more information on TSC.
  • The Sports Industry Ambassadors Program (SIAP)
    • Created to give back to the local Philadelphia community, SIAP bridges the gap between learning and teaching. The program has Drexel students go in local Philadelphia middle and high schools to present on working in sports as a potential career choice.
  • Major Events
    • On a termly basis, SMTSU holds large events to further promote its mission. Past guests include representatives from:
      • ESPN
      • Turnkey Sports and Entertainment
      • Drexel Athletics
      • NFL Films
      • National Football Post
      • Philadelphia Eagles
