Kevin
is part of a small team that is tasked with governing the company’s use of
social media. The team also actively provides guidance to a variety of
departments, from commercial brand teams to R&D and HR. Prior to landing
this job, he focused on business development and cultivating innovative
marketing partnerships within the sport industry. He spent some time with a
small agency called Two Affix where he provided a variety of consulting services
including social media support to top professional athletes. Kevin had other
stops as a partnership marketer with the University of Pennsylvania and
operations in both men’s and women’s professional soccer.
This week the Drexel Connection spotlights Michelle Maslowski. She is
currently the Director of Athletic Development for Drexel University. Ms.
Maslowski is a 2-time Drexel graduate from the Lebow College of Business and
former women’s basketball player. She played professionally in Spain,
Italy, France, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Croatia, and Luxembourg. Ms.
Maslowski is a personal trainer for basketball players in her free time.
The best player in the NBA is
clearly LeBron James. After winning back-to-back MVP’s and NBA Championships it seems almost impossible to not label LeBron as the
best player in 2013. In the 2012-2013 season, LeBron averaged 26.8 points, 8
rebounds, and 7.3 assists per game. This year he is averaging 25.5 points, 6.7
rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game. Almost remarkable numbers from a player at
his position, but we have all come to expect that from LeBron. 
On the
women’s side I’d have to say the best player of 2013 was Candace Parker. Parker was the 2013 MVP of the WNBA, so it is hard to really argue that she wasn’t the best
player in her league. Parker averaged just below 18 points per game with 8.7
rebounds and 3.8 assists. In the playoffs, Parker averaged 25.7 points per game
with 8.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists.
Although Maya Moore also had a great season, Candace was able to edge
her out in the race to be MVP, which earns her my pick as the best WNBA player
of 2013.
The Good: London. The National Football League (NFL) had their yearly game in London this
year and this got me to thinking if London might find itself with a team in the
future. There were already rumors speculating that London is trying to get a
team or at the very least a Super Bowl in their arena. A couple weeks ago I was
playing Madden and I decided to start a fantasy with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Gutsy decision I know but I’m a sucker for
their new jerseys. After the season I moved the team from Jacksonville to
London as the London Black Knights. Interestingly enough, the owner of the
Jacksonville Jaguars, Shahid Khan, has interest London. He has been
quoted saying that “Jaguars are the home team for London.” Not to mention that
he just became the new owner of Fulham. It might not be long before we see a team,
not necessarily Jacksonville, move to London. The market, fan base, and
opportunities that London would provide would be an excellent business decision
for a few struggling NFL teams at the moment.
