NBCUniversal Unveils Comprehensive "Championship Sunday" Programming


NBCUniversal unveiled its “Championship Sunday” programming for May 11th, the final day of the Barclay’s Premier League. Less than a month away, NBCUniversal will execute its most inclusive broadcast of the Premier League in the United States. What is queuing up to be a day of high-stakes and rollercoasters-of-emotion, all 10 matches will be broadcasted simultaneously across NBC’s family of networks. The race for the title and escape from relegation will begin at 10 am ET. Below are the participating networks

Under Further Review: NBC and ESPN trade rights


We see players traded nearly every day in sports. Unless a couple of super stars are involved in the swap, we tend to just ignore them. Outlets like ESPN, Fox Sports, CBS, NBC break the news about a lot of these player trades, something we're all used to by now. But rarely do the media outlets ever make trades like ESPN and NBC Sports made earlier this week when ESPN gave NBC the rights to the Ryder Cup in exchange for the ability to show English Premier League highlights.

Comparing the NBA and the NHL is like comparing apples and oranges.  You can try, but you just cannot do it.  However, when they are both battling for the eyes of sports fans everywhere in primetime, it is difficult to not compare.  The differences in the viewing demographics of the NBA and NHL are wide, but they are competing for the same general sports fans just looking for a good game to watch.

Women’s soccer league scores big with FOX Soccer, NBC picks up EPL


Thursday it was announced that the National Women’s Soccer League and FOX Sports Media Group have signed a one-year television agreement. As part of the negotiation, FOX Soccer will broadcast a total of nine NWSL matches. This will include six regular season matches and all three playoff matches. The NWSL semifinals are to take place on August 24th and 25th with the championship match slated for August 31st. The NWSL season will be a length of 22 games.
