Will anyone be surprised if the Sixers actually fail to win
10 games this season? The Sixers are off to a blistering hot start going
winless in their first 17 games. Obviously, the organization knows what they
are doing by tanking it this badly. However there seems to be a lot of people
who actually understand what they are trying to do. Tank this year and get
another lottery pick. Then see where next year goes with Michael
Carter-Williams, Nerlens Noel, Joel Embiid, hopefully KJ McDaniels, and another
lottery pick. I only say hopefully for KJ McDaniels because he gambled on
himself and is going to be a restricted free agent after this year instead of
signing a multiyear contract. Right now he is playing his way to the top of the Rookie
of the Year discussion. Brett Brown comes from a winning organization and has
been around the San Antonio Spurs for so long that he is trying to mold these
young Sixers like the Spurs. It will take time, but the Sixers are young and talented.
It’s time to take a look forward on what Sixers fans should be excited about.

NBA Preseason: 5 BOLD Predictions
By:
Alan Liang
As the NBA season is set to begin in about a month let’s make five bold predictions. It will be fun to come back at the end of the season and see what a genius I am. No, I’m not going to sit here and tell you the Cleveland Cavaliers are going to make the NBA Finals because if they don’t win it all we can just throw all the blame on LeBron like we always do. Well here goes nothing.

Sixer Fans, Patience is a Virtue
By:
Alan Liang
With the third pick in the 2014 NBA draft, the Philadelphia
76ers select….Joel Embiid. Another injured player Sixer fans are thinking. Before
Joel Embiid broke his foot, he was almost a lock to be the number one overall
pick leaving the Sixers with either Jabari Parker or Andrew Wiggins. Sixer fans
are no stranger to having to wait for a top ten pick to be healthy. Last year
it was Nerlens Noel being the number six pick sitting out the whole year but
they had Michael Carter-Williams as well. This year, they have a bunch of
second round picks instead. It is reported
that Embiid will be out five to eight months but no one will be surprised if he
sits out the entire season.

Market Power: NBA Rookie Edition
By:
Alan Liang
The NBA postseason is coming to an end with the finals beginning this week. It is a rematch of last year’s thrilling finals between the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs. It’s going to be a dogfight. Even though the finals will be going on, June 26th is what many of the bottom dweller teams are looking forward to being the NBA draft. This year’s draft has a ton of talent, but does talent translate into marketability? Earlier I discussed the three players left in the playoffs I would target for marketing. Now I will take a look at three NBA soon to be rookies and why I would choose them to market my company.

Will the Ping Pong Balls Make Sixer Fans Happy?
By:
Alan Liang
The day is finally here. The NBA Draft Lottery is tonight and it will be fun to see how the ping pong balls play out. The Bucks and Sixers have the best chance to get the number one overall pick at 25 and 19.9 percent, respectively. Followed by the Magic at 15.6 percent, Jazz at 10.4 percent and Celtics at 10.3 percent. Being a Sixers fan, I am praying they get the number one pick to take Andrew Wiggins. Although there have been some NBA executives who say they would rather have Jabari Parker over Wiggins, I believe it would be a HUGE mistake if Wiggins is not drafted number one. The Sixers definitely went all in on this years draft to rebuild their team. Trading all-star point guard Jrue Holiday to the New Orleans Pelicans for the rights to Nerlens Noel (who has sat out the entire season), and this years first round pick (top five protected) during the draft last year said it all. If everything falls to place here is what I want the Sixers to do.

2013 NBA Draft: The Financial Difference Between #1 and #5
By:
Drexel SMTSU
At around 7:30pm Thursday night in Brooklyn, NY, 30 young
men will have their lives changed forever when David Stern calls their name to
play in the NBA. These 30 young men (some even younger than me, which I find
very upsetting) will see the gratifying culmination of years of summer
basketball camps, AAU travel teams, and countless hours in the gym in front of
the eyes of millions of fans across the world. Also, most will strike it rich
in an instant. But how rich you may ask? Well, I’m here to explain the pretty
big difference between going first overall (such as Kentucky’s Nerlens Noel,
Maryland’s Alex Len, or Georgetown’s Otto Porter) and going fifth or lower.

Above the Rim: The 2013 NBA Draft: Up in the Air
By:
Josh Brackett
As the NBA season came to an end in spectacular fashion last
week, NBA fans and teams focus their gaze on the 2013 NBA Draft, which takes
place this Thursday, June 28th. Although the draft is an exciting
time every year for teams looking to get better and strive for future playoff
runs, this draft is less hopeful than most. With no surefire All-Star caliber
prospects and no legitimate #1 player, this year’s draft is not one that will put
any forlorn franchise immediately back into playoff contention.
